Wiegand Interface - Crosstalk and EMI

  • Twisted pair cables such as Cat5E are designed for differential data transmission and are most commonly used for Ethernet connections where one signal goes high, and the other goes low
  • When EMI (ElectroMagnetic Interference) is introduced to the pair, the opposing signals provide immunity against this as it is the difference between the two signals, not the voltage that provides the final data
  • Inducing equal voltage to both lines doesn't change the resulting data received
