Wiegand Interface

  • In a Wiegand interface, data transmission is one way only, meaning that the Controller is unable to ‘talk’ to the reader – it can only listen
  • This means that if a card read is only partially received, or is corrupted, the Controller has no way to ask the reader to repeat its message
  • A bad card read therefore usually results in no feedback to the user who is trying to get through a door
